September 6th - 15th, 2023

Julanite, acrylic on canvas, 63 x 70 inches. 2022.

"Julanite" is my latest solo exhibition, taking place at 67A York Street in Marylebone, London. In this show, I take viewers on an imaginative journey, delving into themes of spiritualism and psychedelia through a series of works that include my two largest-scale paintings to date. My fascination lies in exploring the inner landscapes of the mind, and this collection celebrates the boundless nature of the imagination, a realm where the world of the senses and higher planes intersect.

Henry Corbin's essay, "The Mundus Imaginalis," has been serving as a significant source of inspiration for me. It elaborates on this notion of a realm where the world of the sense on the higher spiritual planes intersects, which is described as a "place of images in suspense,". Guided by this concept, I venture into contemplating and reflecting upon my own experiences of and with the mysteries of the imagination, seeking to celebrate and discover more of its inner workings.

At the heart of the exhibition are two prominent pieces, "Julanite" and "Nagoram," which were both created during the late summer of 2022. The overarching theme of the exhibition centres around a jungle at night, inviting viewers to depart from representational perspectives and immerse themselves in a fluid, energetic, and amorphous narrative where images are stirred by an inner cosmic wind, becoming visible in the mind's eye. In this amorphous and evocative atmosphere, forms emerge from the depths within, shrouded in mystery.

My artistic journey draws extensively from my explorations of the inner worlds of the mind, often revealed during altered states of consciousness. Meditative experiences and visionary psychedelic states have been particularly instrumental in shaping my artistic vision. Through "Julanite," Im presenting a vibrant and dynamic body of work, aiming to extend an invitation to viewers to embark on their own journey of self-discovery, explore their inner worlds and contemplate more of the universal aspects of our shared humanity.

The opening event is Thursday, September 7th, 6 - 9 PM.
